Safer Ministry Education

Anglican Diocese of Adelaide is committed to supporting Church Workers in their call to serve within the Church. This support includes providing training on a range of issues to develop a safer church.

The units of training required vary depending on individual’s role and responsibility. Guidelines are provided below. You are encouraged to complete the required level of training by 31 December 2008

It is acknowledge that for some people part of the training material may be of a sensitive nature. We are seeking to cover this material to achieve a common understanding and response to these matters within the Church.  All sessions are facilitated in a manner which seeks to maximize participant’s emotional and physical wellbeing.

In 2008, safer ministry training will again be provided at no charge to participants with all costs met by the Diocese.

This year we have increased the sessions available on weekends. We have also introduced new evening options, specifically for those with weekday commitments. Session details are provided below or as a printable flier 2008 Safer Ministry Education Brochure

Additional sessions will also be added as details become available.

Child Safe Environment (Mandatory Notification Training)

This one day course outlines the legislative requirements for paid and voluntary workers in the Anglican Church to report child abuse. This training will help people working with children to recognise the signs of child abuse, know the appropriate action to take and understand how they can support the child and their family. As the content of the course relates to legislation that is specific to South Australia, the training must be undertaken within South Australia by an accredited trainer. If you have recently completed Child Safe Environment (Mandatory Notification Training) in another organisation you are invited to explore the possibility of recognition of prior learning.

This course is usually completed in a one day session. However, participants may for personal, work or learning reasons have a conversation when booking if completing this course over two differing days is more suitable.
